Stono River Stable is a 300 acre working horse farm and riding school in the heart of rural Johns Island, SC. We are located just seven miles south of Charleston and seven miles north of Kiawah and Seabrook Islands. Our facility includes a beautiful cross-country event course with 63 jumps from Tadpole to Training level. We welcome you to trailer in and school our course for $15 per day (instructors ride free.) Our farm has miles of private trails, a stadium jumping course, four riding rings, a dressage arena, pastures, paddocks and two barns.
Our water is drawn from wells drilled to shell strata with all the necessary minerals needed in the low country. Our pastures are Pensacola Bahia and have large shade tree areas. We are near the ocean and cool zephyrs are our norm. Our area of Johns Island is in a large and complete eco system, with the wild of the beautiful low country: Eagles, otter, turkey, deer and crows with a diversity of fauna and flora in a maritime forest. It is a wild life and forest experience and bird watchers and nature lovers can spend the day for $15 per person. Walking and jogging are permitted.
Riding lessons are given on wonderful tried and true school master horses. Private lessons are $55 per hour, group lessons are $45 per hour by appointment Monday thru Saturday.
Bring your Horse on vacation, stay in Charleston or on the resort Islands and enjoy our facility. We have multiple horse functions, new ideas that can be adjusted added to or changed to fit your equestrian needs we are receptive to your ideas. Visit us during your cold months or send your horse to spend the winter. During the summer, bring your horse, stay at the nearby beaches, and enjoy our miles of trails and jumping facilities. We have sandy footing and a one day event in the fall and spring. We do not go by that old saying you can always tell a horse person but you can't tell them much. We will listen to your needs. New 10 stall barn available on a first come basis. Bring your own feed, $25 per night with access to all trails and jumps.
Hotels, resorts, and nature guides may call Marion Reid or our staff so we can fit a program to your needs to see a Sea Island and Maritime forest in all its splendor. Design a program and we can furnish it.
Our boarders and horse leasers are a fine group of horse persons: college students, business owners, Veterinarians and students. Our board is $650 per month, wormer, trim, and blanketing included. Turn out is with 3 or less horses per pasture.
